Hubbard Farms Clark Park
Clark Park is first overall because it is the best-maintained and most-loved public court in Detroit, and because the reason it is in good shape is the neighbourhood itself. That story is Detroit basketball in one park.

Oakman Boulevard Community St. Cecilia Gym
Read this one before you drive over: St. Cecilia's is not open. The gym went dormant in 2019 and is now the subject of a restoration campaign, so there is no run here today. We include it because no honest account of Detroit basketball can leave it out.
From the late sixties onward, the gym at St. Cecilia's parish on the west side ran the summer league that basketball people simply called The Saint. Dave Bing, George Gervin, Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, and Joe Dumars all played in it. For decades it was the proving ground where Detroit's professionals came home to test themselves against the city's best amateurs.
The parish school closed in 2010 and the building operated as a community centre called Ceciliaville until 2019, when disrepair shut it down. SAY Detroit has since launched a $20 million campaign to rebuild it as a youth centre, anchored by a $5 million gift from Steve Ballmer. When it reopens, this ranking gets revisited.

Bethune Community Adams Butzel Complex
Adams Butzel is third overall as the best public indoor gym currently open in Detroit. With St. Cecilia's dark, this is where the city's indoor basketball actually happens.
